The main purpose of Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense” was to advocate for the independence of the American Colonies from the UK. He defended that there was no reason for the colonies to remain under the British rule, for that he used an easy language and encouraged the reader to reflect on the issue.
To make his point Paine pointed a series of reasons for independence such as the size of America, the distance from Britain, the natural resources available on the colonies and others.
