What kind of tropism do roots display when they grow downward into the soil ?

They grow downwards, following the pull of gravity, so it is gravitropism.

At first they grow downward in the direction of gravity. This is called geotropism. They also grow in the direction of humidity, water. This is called hydrotropism.
