y = 2+.5x (x>1) This relationship is linear, the amount grows constantly. Every hour after the first hour the person is charged on top of the first $2.00 an additional $0.50 for each hour spent in the garage.
Ex: 5 hours parking: 1st our $2.00 and 4 hrs @ $0.50 =$4.00
For any x the equation could be written:
y=2+.5(x-1) or y=1.5+.5x
