To answer this question we need to remember that 1 kilocalorie is equal to 4184 joules; we also have to remember that 250 kJ is equal to 250000 J. Once we know this we can make a rule of three:

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ kcal}\rightarrow4184\text{ J} \\ x\text{ }\rightarrow250000\text{ J} \end{gathered}

Then:

\begin{gathered} x=\frac{(250000\text{ J)(1 kcal)}}{4184} \\ x=59.75 \end{gathered}

Therefore the expenditure produce 59.75 kilocalories.
