SOLUTION

In this question, we are meant to simplify log 24.

Step 1: Expressing 24 as a product of its prime factors, we have that :

24 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

log 24 = log ( 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 )

Step 2 : log 24 =

\begin{gathered} \log (2^3X3^1\text{ )} \\ =log2^3+log3^{1\text{ }}\text{ }(\text{ Using the law of Indices )} \\ =\text{ 3 log 2 + log 3} \end{gathered}

CONCLUSION : log 24 = 3 log 2 + log 3
