In a classroom, The total number if students in the class = 36

1/6 of the students wearing blue shirt

i.e. 1/6 of 36 students wearing blue shirt :

\begin{gathered} (1)/(6)\text{ of 36 = }(1)/(6)*36 \\ (1)/(6)\text{ of 36 =6} \end{gathered}

So, Number of students wearing blue shirts = 6

2/3 are wearing white shirts

i.e. 2/3 of 36 students wearing white shirt :

\begin{gathered} (2)/(3)\text{ of 36 =}(2)/(3)*36 \\ (2)/(3)\text{ of 36 =24} \end{gathered}

Number of students wearing white shirts = 24

Number of students wearing white shirt or blue shirt = 24 + 6

Number of students wearing white shirt or blue shirt = 30

Number of students not wearing white shirt or blue shirt = Total number of students - Number of students wearing white shirt or blue shirt

Number of students not wearing white shirt or blue shirt = 36 - 30

Number of students not wearing white shirt or blue shirt = 6

So, Number of students are wearing a short other than white or blue is 6

Answer : D)
