y = mx + b

m is the slope and b is the y-intercept

The slope is the angle at which a line is positioned, and b is where the line crosses the y-axis.

You can use the y-intercept of the line from the equation to find the point that crosses the y-axis. The slope tells you where to move from the y-intercept, is you were to graph it.
