One major way is that both release incredible amounts of energy, fusion perhaps more so than fission. This is why we here about fusion power plants being tested, because they could be a major solution to the global energy crisis.

They both involve atoms. Other than that they're the exact opposite of each other. Fusion is putting atoms together. Fission is taking them apart.
