When three civil rights workers disappeared during Freedom Summer, what did the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) claim happened to them?

They claimed that they were killed and eventually it was proven to be true. They were caught and lynched after being released by the police. Nobody would know this and mind it if the SNCC hadn't keep pushing people to release information about it and solve the cases. The FBI solved it and released information that their bodies were found, as well as many other bodies of African-American citizens.
