Because next to the number 2 is a bracket, you would need to multiply:

2×4=8
2×6y=12y
=8+12y

8+12y is your answer

8 + 12y becuase you times what is outside to the inside! Pay more attention to class, I am in Elemtery school! And I know this! Well you should know by now, I was nicknamed Algebra Queen in Maths! Lol
