Ok since 2.5 hours travels 312.5 miles, half of 2.5 hours will be 156.25 miles. Half of 2.5 hours will be 1.25, so it has to be greater than C or D. The average rate is 0.08. And the sum will be very long and I did the math and i believe that the answer can't end without a decimal so I highly recommend that the answer is B

Answer:

The hurricane will travel
202.5 mi

Therefore, the correct answer is B.202.5

Explanation:

We define the average speed rate as the position variation divided by the time variation ⇒ Given that the hurricane traveled 312.5 miles in 2.5 hours :

Average speed rate = Position variation / time variation = Δx / Δt =
(312.5mi)/(2.5h)=125(mi)/(h)

Now, the average speed rate increases by 8% :

(125(mi)/(h))/(100)=(x)/(108)  \\x=((125(mi)/(h))/(100)).(108)=135(mi)/(h)

The new average speed rate is
135(mi)/(h)

Given that
Speed=(Distance)/(Time)

Distance= (Speed).(Time)

In the next 1.5 hours the hurricane will travel

Distance=(135(mi)/(h)).(1.5h)=202.5mi

The correct answer ir B.202.5
