The first Americans were committed to personal freedom because they had fought in the revolutionary war against Great Britain to earn freedom. Before America became a nation we was under the rule and authority of Great Britain. But once America won the Revolutionary war they were committed to freedom and rights as individuals because that was the purpose for us fighting. The first Americans could really appreciate the privilege of fighting for freedom and seeing victory in the end.

Hope I helped!!!

The pioneers were the first Americans committed to personal freedom.During the colonial times, the English and criminal common law made criticizing the government a crime and personal freedom became important.
