You want to replace the countertops in a kitchen. One counter measures 24 inches by 6 feet. The other is 30 inches by 4 feet. If the new countertop costs $42.00 per square foot, what will be the cost of the new top?

$11,088 I belive! All you have to do is multiply the length and width to get the surface areas! after that, multiply the number by 42! and there ya go!!

we know that

1\ foot=12\ inches

Step
1

Find the area in square feet of the countertop N
1

convert inches to feet

24\ inches=(24)/(12) =2\ ft

Area\ 1=2*6=12\ ft^(2)

Step
2

Find the area in square feet of the countertop N
2

convert inches to feet

30\ inches=(30)/(12) =2.5\ ft

Area\ 2=2.5*4=10\ ft^(2)

Step
3

Find the cost of the new top

we know that

the new countertop costs
\$42.00 per square foot

to find the total area sum area 1 and area 2

total\ area=12\ ft^(2)+10\ ft^(2)=22\ ft^(2)

Cost=22\ ft^(2)*42.00(\$)/(ft^(2)) =\$924

therefore

the answer is

\$924
