Consider that the coordinates of the mid-point of a line segment joining the two given points is given by the formula,

((x_1+x_2)/(2),(y_1+y_2)/(2))

Given that the end-points are (4,9) and (-4,2),

\begin{gathered} (x_1,y_1)=(4,9) \\ (x_2,y_2)=(-4,2) \end{gathered}

Substitute the values in the formula and obtain the mid-point as follows,

\begin{gathered} =((4+(-4))/(2),(9+2)/(2)) \\ =((4-4)/(2),(11)/(2)) \\ =((0)/(2),(11)/(2)) \\ =(0,5.5) \end{gathered}

Thus, the mid-point os the line segment joining the given end-points is obtained as,

(0,0.5)
