Split the shape into a 1.5 x 2.8 rectangle and a 2.8 x 1.0 triangle.
The area of the rectangle (1.5 x 2.8) = 4.2
The area of the triangle (1/2(2.8 x 1.0)) = 1.4
So the area of the entire shape is 4.2 + 1.4 = 5.6
