area of top left triangle inside the kite = 2x3 = 6 divide by 2 = 3 square feet
area for top right triangle is 7x2 = 14 divide by 2 = 7 square feet
add together to get total area of top half = 10 square feet
double it to get bottom half as well, so total area is 20 square feet

You essentially have four triangles. The area of a triangle is: A=bh/2 (b=base length and h=height)

So the area is simply the sum of the four triangle areas...

A=(3*2)/2+(3*2)/2+(7*2)/2+(7*2)/2

A=20 ft^2
