The resting heart rate for the average adult is 60-100bpm. Athletes have a resting heart rate of 40bpm. It's recommended to exercise within 55-85% of your max heart rate (MHR) for ~20-30m. The MHR (220 minus your age) is the upper limit of what your cardiovascular system can handle during physical activity.
