Answer:

The Chinese civil war, 1945-49, resulted in the in the proclamation and founding of the People´s Republic of China, by its leader Mao Zedong, ending several decades of upheaval and instability in China which had begun in an earlier revolution in 1911 that, in its turn, had ended a couple millennia old dynastic rule in China. Due to China´s unstable beginning of the 19th century, Mao called for the unification of China. The communist revolution resulted in increasing tensions between the Western block, represented by the USA, and the Eastern bloc, represented by the USSR and China, mainly.
