Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs‐de‐lys;
Because the birthday of my life
Is come, my love is come to me.
‐Christina Rossetti

Cheers to a glass of silk milk,
Dyed with the colors of purple.
Make it like doves and pomegranates,
Get paid with gold and sliver,
The leaves look silverish
Because my birthday
is here, and so is my love

In "A Birthday," Rossetti uses some antiquated words such as "halcyon," "vair," and "dais." What would be the best strategy for making meaning from this poem?
