12,900 - 3,000 = x

that is, to the total cost of the car, you subtract the money Ryan payed, and you obtain the rest of the money he has to pay later.

Solve the previous equation by simplifying the left side of the equation:

9,900 = x

Hence, Ryan have left to pay $9,900
