Then twice area of the photo is whole area

First find the area of the photo

Photo area


\begin{gathered} A=b* h \\ A=8*5 \\ A=40 \end{gathered}

area of the photo is 40 square inches and whole area is


40*2=80

80square inches

now find the whole area and replace 80

\begin{gathered} A=b* h \\ 80=(8+x)(5+x) \\ \end{gathered}

solve parenthesis


\begin{gathered} (8*5)+(8* x)+(x*5)+(x* x)=80 \\ 40+8x+5x+x^2=80 \\ x^2+13x+40=80 \end{gathered}
