Another option is to work at a franchise, where she would just have to pay the salon $3 for every haircut. For Westerford Salon, Total rent paid per month = $309

in a year (12 months), she will pay $309 x 12 = $3708

At franchise, She pays $3 for every haircut;

Let y represent the number of haircut in a month she performs at the franchise

total amount of haircut she performs at the franchise will be $3 x y = $3y per month

(a) How much would Grace pay?

In a month, the amount Grace would pay in the franchise will be equal to the amount she pays at Westerford which is $3708 per year if she was able to perform a certain number of haircut every month

in a year, she will pay $3708

or in a month, she will pay $309

(b) How many haircuts would that be?​

3y = 309

y= 309/3

y= 103

She must perform 103 haircut or more every month
