Answer: B. 240

Explanation:

Let the number of pages read by Rafael be 'x'.

Then, The number of pages read by Denise =
(3)/(4)x

The numb er of pages read by Philippe =
(1)/(2)x

According to the question :-

x+(3)/(4)x+(1)/(2)x=540\\\\\Rightarrow (4x+3x+2x)/(4)=540\\\\\Rightarrow (9x)/(4)=540\\\\\Rightarrow x=(540*4)/(9)\\\\\Rightarrow x=240

The number of pages read by Rafael =240
