So He starts with 14 Ounces, but he Ate 2 5/8 ounces and then ate another 3 7/12 ounces. So You have to Subtract the Amount he Ate from how much he Started with, but First add up the Amount he Ate and you have to find a Common Denominator for -/8 & -/12
1. 2 5/8 + 3 7/12 = -/8 & -/12, 12 x 2 = 24, 8 x 3 = 24.
24 is the Smallest Common Denominator, now multiply the Numerators.
2. 5*3 = 15 & 7*2 = 14.
Now add the Two new Fractions (15/24 & 14/24)
3. 15/24 + 14/24 = 29/24
And now Convert the 29 to a Whole number and then add the 2 and the 3 from Earlier.
4. 29/24 = 1 5/24 (No Further Simplification Possible)
- 1 5/24 + 5 = 6 5/24.
Now Finally, Subtract the Amount he had at the Start from the Amount he Ate.
5. 14 - 6 5/24, but also convert the Whole numbers into Fractions (336/24 & 149/24)
- 336/24 - 149/24 = 187/24, Now Convert the Numbers to Whole Numbers and Simplify the Fraction. = 7 19/24 (No Further Simplification possible.)

Therefore your Answer is 7 19/24.
You probably could've done this without my Overdone description of the Steps, but in the End you get your Answer at least.
