Five functions of proteins are:
-Enzymes (enzymatic function): the enzymes are proteins that bind to molecules to catalyze the chemical reaction. The enzymatic function is one of the most common as a example of activity of these molecules, since it is extremely important for survival;
-Antibodies (Immune function): these proteins are responsable to provide specific immune defense against invanders, being able to recognize antigens from viruses, bacteria and fungi;
-Energy (energetic function): When broken down proteins turns into amino acids, that can be used as a form of energy for the body;
-Helping repair and build tissues and muscles (structural function): the proteins are related to the structural composition of muscles and tissues;
-Transport: some proteins act as channels or porters inside the body, as is the case of integral proteins in cell membranes.
