A child who has ingested a foreign object into the respiratory tract will show symptomsof coughing and irritation of the respiratory tree, including production of larger thannormal amounts of mucus. The foreign object is more likely to have entered the rightprimary bronchus, as it is of greater diameter than the left, and enters the lungs at asteeper angle.
