What was the most significant factor in president harry s truman's decision to drop atomic bombs on japan?

Before dropping the bombs, President Truman only really had 2 options, either invade Japan and cause the deaths of many more Americans and many Japanese, or end the war as soon as possible by dropping the atomic bombs. I'd say the most significant factor was that more people would die if they tried to invade.
