A) .10d + .25q = 5.45
B) d + q = 29
Multiplying equation B by -.1
B) -.1d -.1q = -2.9 Then adding it to A
A) .10d +.25q =5.45

.15q = 2.55
q = 17
d = 12
12 dimes and 17 quarters

12 dimes = 1.20 plus 17 quarters = 4.25 TOTAL = 5.45
12 and 17 = 29 coins
