Bacteria reproduce by binary fission, in which each cell divides into two daughter cells that are similar in size and shape. Which type of reproduction occurs in this case?

Well considering that it's bacteria and it doesn't need to mate or anything, it'd be asexual reproduction.

Answer:

The correct answer would be asexual reproduction.

Asexual reproduction refers to the reproduction in which offspring is produced form a single parent organism.

It does not involve the formation and fusion of gametes.

Asexual reproduction includes binary fission, multiple fission, budding, vegetative propagation, fragmentation et cetera.

In binary fission, parent cell divides into two equal sized daughter cells, each identical to the parent cell.

It is observed in prokaryotes such as bacteria, and unicellular eukaryotes such as amoeba, paramecium et cetera.
