Answer:

the amount of freshwater is decreasing

Step-by-step explanation:

The freshwater reserves have been used more and more by the humans. It is not just water for drinking, but also for all sorts of other things, such as irrigation, sanitation, hygiene, industry etc. On top of that, the human population has constantly been increasing, so more and more water is demanded. Because the population is increasing, more food is needed, which in turn results in increase of the farmlands, thus increase in the demand for water for irrigation. The economies too constantly move forward and develop, and all of them need water, and with their number rising, more water is needed for their functioning. The freshwater reserves are not actually decreasing, the problem is that their usage is increasing. The pollution makes big problem too, as it is downgrading the quality of the freshwater and makes it unusable for lot of things.
