The United States and Europe both wanted to imperialize other countries in order to spread their beliefs and ideas. They also wanted access to better resources so that they could use them for profit. But there was a significant difference between those countries that were under European control then the countries that were under American control. They were being controlled and monitored and had to do what the Europeans said otherwise they were at risk of being punished or killed. While the United States also imperialized countries they were not as brutal. They did not punish or kill people nor did they take away all of their rights. Once the United States noticed how Europeans were imperializing they tried to help by issuing the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine was issued to help protect Latin America from European control. While both the United States and Europe had main control over the world during the time, they both had very different routes to do so.
