How did the united states position at the end of world war 2 compare with the soviet unions?

The war left the United States in a better position than the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union suffered many more losses than the United States. Many of their cities were destroyed. They lost over 20 million people. There were never any attacks on US soil other than Pearl Harbor.
