hydrogen and helium doesn't follow octet rule as they follow doublet rule to attain stability.

Some compounds like BF3 doesn't follow octet rule even the valence shell is D Orbital. Because boron shares the 3 electron with 3 flourine atoms to make stable even with 6 pairs of electron. but they always attempt to gain 4 pair of electrons resulting in BF4- sometimes. but they are negatively charged.
