so what i do when i multiply a fraction is put a one for the denominator for the whole.
For example lets use 2/3 x 2
2 2
- x -
3 1 <--- (i put the 1 under)
I think its a good method.

for example, you make 4 into a fraction by putting it over 1.
Next you multiply across the top, which is 4x3=12
and then multiple across the bottom 1x4=4 so you get
12/4 which reduces to 3
