The expression:


16-(-13)-3-(-5)+8

When we have a negative sign before a parenthsis, we can put this sign in the elements inside it. When you have two negative signs, they turn into a positive sign. Applying this, we have:


16+13-3+5+8

Now, we can just do the operations in any order, because they are all additions and substractions:
