Quadratic formula is
x = -b + or - sqrt b^2-4ac / 2a
Just plug in your numbers... let's say we have x^2 + 4x + 8 = 0
Plug it in.
x = -(-4) +/- sqrt (4)^2 - 4(1)(8)/2(1)
x = 4 +/- sqrt 16-32 / 2
x = 4+/- sqrt -16/2 (no real solutions)
