Distribute.


(1)/(2)x + b=(1)/(2) x+(3)/(4)

Subtract 1/2x from both sides to isolate the b.


b=(1)/(2) x+(3)/(4)-(1)/(2)x

1/2x and -1/2x cancel each other out.


b=(3)/(4)

So b = 3/4
