Explain the role of the GCF in factoring a polynomial.

The Greatest Common Factor (GCF) is the largest number that will be divided evenly into that number. For example, for 24, the GCF is 12. For a polynomial, the GCF is the largest polynomial that will divide evenly into that polynomial.
