3. For the first hundred years of the United States, only white males were able to vote. Since then, amendments to the Constitution have made it so that any citizen aged 18 or older can vote. Which amendments granted different groups the right to vote? Why were amendments needed to expand voting rights?

Answer:

15th amendment, 19th amendment,23rd amendment, 24th Amendment, and 26th amendment

As time had passed, these groups protested since the Constitution stated that people had rights so they should, too! It became fair and these amendments were added.

Explanation:

The 15th Amendment gave African-Americans the right to vote

The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote

The 23rd Amendment extended the right to vote

The 24th Amendment let Congress and the states vote

The 26th Amendment lowered the age of voting to 18 or older so teens could vote.
