1. Subtract 1/3 from 7/9.
1/3 and 7/9 : Both denominators of 3 and 9 go into 9.
2. 1/3* 3 = 3/9 7/9*1 = 7/9
3.3/9 - 7/9 = 4/9 OR 2 1/9
