Describe the location of point (−5, −5, 5) in three-dimensional coordinate space.

A.)From the origin, move 5 units forward, 5 units right, and 5 units down.
B.)From the origin, move 5 units back, 5 units left, and 5 units up.

Answer:

Option B is right

Explanation:

In 3 dimension we have 8 octants, with x,y, z axes mutually perpendicular.

Given coordinate is (-5,-5,5)

Since x is negative we find move 5 units back first,

y is also negative hence move 5 units left

Z is positive this implies 5 units up

In two dimension we do as follows:

Locate x on the x-axis.

From that point, moving parallel to the y-axis, move y units. This is your point.

IN three dimension we extend as follows:

Locate x on the x-axis.

From that point, moving parallel to the y-axis, move y units.

From that point, moving parallel to the z-axis, move z units. This is your point
