The total bill for dinner was $56 (excluding tip). If the food and drinks cost $50, how much was the tax? Show work and explain your answer.

the tax is 12% because if you take 50 and multiply it by 0.12 it is 6, and you add that to 50 to get the price plus the tax, which is 56

It would be a 12 percent tax. You would do 56 dollars times 100(as in percent) then you divide it by 50 to get 112, subtract 100 and get 12! Hope this helps!!!
