First, look th the graph and set the coordinate of the points:

M = (mx,my)= (-1,2)

N = (nx,ny)= (4,0)

Now, apply the distance formula:


\text{Distance =}\sqrt[]{(mx-nx)^2+(my-ny)^2}

Replace with the coordinates:


D\text{ =}\sqrt[]{(-1-4)^2+(2-0)^2}
D=\sqrt[]{(-5)^2+2^2}=\sqrt[]{25+4}=\sqrt[]{29}\text{ =5.3}9
