Since the total percent of the employees is 100%

Since 40% of them took the bus

Since 5% walk

Add them and subtract the sum from 100% to get the percentage of who take the car

\begin{gathered} 40+5=45 \\ 100-45=55 \end{gathered}

Then 55% of the employees use cars

Since the total number of employees is 140, then

Let us find 55% of 140

Change 55% to a number by divide it by 100, then multiply it by 140

\begin{gathered} N=(55)/(100)*140 \\ N=77 \end{gathered}

There are 77 employees who use cars
