The colonial period saw the growth and development of law and order in North America. During this time period, the American government faced many significant transformations. An example of a policy implemented during this period and that we still use in the present is that of voting. Voting is a basic democratic process that began during the colonial period. Another example is freedom of religion, which was implemented in several colonies as a revolutionary approach to the subject of religious belief.
