x + 2y = 5....multiply by -3
3x + 5y = 14
----------------
-3x - 6y = -15 (result of multiplying by -3)
3x + 5y = 14
----------------add
-y = -1
y = 1
x + 2y = 5
x + 2(1) = 5
x + 2 = 5
x = 5 - 2
x = 3
solution is (3,1)
