A porch has the shape of a quarter circle. If the porch was a complete circle it would have a diameter of 5 ft. What is the approximate area of the porch, rounded to the nearest square foot? Use 3.14 to approximate pi star times.

Normally, to find the area of a circle you'd do π ×
r^(2) so you have to find the radius by dividing 5 by 2 to get 2.5. Approximating pi as 3.14, you would do 3.14 ×
2.5^(2) = 19.625. Because the porch is a quarter circle, you would then divide this by 4 to get 4.906. Rounded to the nearest square foot, your answer would therefore be 5 ft. I hope this helps!
