4.5 because a=v-u/t so when you do the math you get 4.5

Don't quote me, but I'll try to help because I know the formula. Your formula is a=v-u/t. V is the final velocity, U is the initial velocity, and T is the time in seconds. Now, set it up. a=0-36/8. -36/8=-4.5. Now you have a=0+4.5. Your acceleration is 4.5m/s^2.
