I believe the answer is:

attending school board meetings, as well as town or city hall meetings, joining your friends on the web, commenting about political situations,

volunteering your time at both Republican and Democratic events to learn about party platforms to make an informed decision

In order to be involved in the politic, you need to do some activities that would influence the outcome of legislation or programs that would be created by the government.

Attending city hall meeting could influence the outcome by directly give opinion and suggestion to local representative and volunteering in party's campaign help influence the outcome by giving support to the parties to obtain more influence in congressional seat.

A high school student is more likely to participate in politics through the following ways:

(1) running for local city council. Most cities already practice this for the belief that allowing the youth to be part of the council will make them more involved in the societal agenda.

(2) taking part in Boys State and Girls State. I think this is something that highschoolers will be able to handle given that they have limited knowledge about the national politics.
