Perimeter = 14y + 12x

Area = 6xy + 24xy = 30xy

The algebraic expressions for the perimeter and area of the shape is 4x + 30y and 14xy + 16y² respectively.

What is the perimeter and area of the shape?

Rectangle:

Length = 4y + 3y = 7y

Width = 2x

Square:

Length = 4y

Perimeter of the shape = perimeter of the rectangle + perimeter of the square

= 2(length + width) + 4(length

= 2{(4y +3y) + 2x} + 4(4y)

= 2(7y + 2x) + 16y

= 14y + 4x + 16y

= 4x + 30y

Area of the shape = Area of rectangle + area of square

= (length × width) + Length²

= (7y × 2x) + 4y²

= 14xy + 16y²
